Dave Maffris is a composer, pianist, and producer whose music spans cinematic orchestral works, jazz, contemporary instrumental music, and immersive atmospheric soundscapes.”
Dave’s music blends elegant sophistication, groove, and cinematic depth exploring the fusion of melody, atmosphere, and visual storytelling.

A classically trained pianist turned rock, then jazz artist, Dave has spent decades performing in most genres of popular music, with a dedication to traditional and contemporary jazz, and even Pop Tribute Band work.  

Current Projects

Dave is currently collaborating with independent filmmakers on two motion picture projects while continuing to compose and produce new music for film, television, and visual media

In addition to producing his own compositions, Dave has produced several albums for local area artists, ranging in styles from folk, country, rock, and jazz releases.

Drawing influence from artists such as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Lyle Mays, and David Crosby, his original compositions range from elegant solo piano to lush hybrid orchestral textures. Dave’s music is frequently described as emotionally rich, warm, and timeless — ideal for storytelling, background ambiance, and visual media.

Dave’s studio, The Shed, is located in North Carolina, and he continues to perform live at many upscale local venues and stages.
